When Park Social’s founders secured an iconic Art Deco building in their hometown of Alameda, CA for their new cannabis retail shop, they knew the brand had to honour the building’s heritage while breaking from outdated “head shop” stereotypes. The result: a mature, modern Art Deco revival that blends historic charm with a bold, contemporary edge.

I drew inspiration directly from the building’s distinctive façade, transforming its distinctive shape into an art deco-inspired logo mark with a subtle cannabis leaf shape. This architectural connection grounds the brand in place while giving it a confident, upscale personality. From logo to merchandising, every element was designed to feel rooted in Alameda’s history but ready for the modern cannabis consumer.

impact

The cohesive identity not only helped Park Social stand out in a competitive market, but also made it a local landmark even before its grand opening. Since launch, the store has seen high foot traffic from both curious newcomers and loyal locals—proof that thoughtful design can bridge past and present while making space for something entirely new.
